Data-Med Transcription
is located just outside of South Bend, Indiana.  We are a local/national company that specializes in primarily insurance claims and legal transcription support services, with a specialty area of medical transcription services.  Our medical transcriptionists are experienced in various formats related to the insurance/legal industry--physical examinations, medical file reviews, independent medical examinations by 3rd party provides related to workers comp claims, personal injury, etc., as well as psychiatric and psychological medical evaluations.  Our transcription team works as independent contractors, as operators of their own small business entity--a sole proprietor or incorporated. 

Because we value the effort and skill needed to be a good transcriptionist, our commitment to our transcriptionist team is to always offer a base pay that is at least an equivalent to $.08 per line, or other comparable/better rates based on type of work. 

We always work hard to negotiate and obtain a good fee rate from our clients.  That way, we are able to pass a good earning base onto our team so they can make at least a living wage.

Our Transcriptionist Network

When adding on to our transcription team, we look for highly skilled transcription professionals who are interested in joining our group.  Our goal is to maintain a registry of qualified transcriptionists that are available for on-call or full-coverage assignments. 

Much like a temporary agency, we provide work for experienced and qualified medical, legal, and business transcriptionists who are set up to work as independent contractors, as owners of their own small business transcription service. 

Transcriptionist Requirements

  • Experience in Medical or Legal transcription; prior experience with recorded statements and interviews a plus.    
  • We also offer specialty transcription services to psychiatry & psychology professionals and mental healthcare/treatment facilities and organizations.
  • Commitment to complete work within predetermined turnaround times.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Work as independent contractors. 
  • HIPAA Compliant secure work/equipment area.
  • Proficient in MSWord products, Windows, and general computer applications working knowledge.
  • Use of word expanders, abbreviation software, etc., to facilitate rapid typing speed.
  • For Medical Transcription, total familiarity with AAMT Book of Style, full knowledge of medical terminology, and sufficient past experience in actually performing medical transcription.

What We Strive to Offer Our Transcriptionist Team

  • Unless on full coverage account, transcriptionist is offered work on a "temp" basis--you can accept the project, or pass, with no future repercussion for not being able to take on work.  (Allows transcriptionist to schedule work with lifestyle and family/personal commitments)
  • Among the best line, word, and page rates in the business (some pay based on minutes of recording).
  • Technical, formatting, and terminology support--style guide provided for each project. 
  • Team concept, transcriptionists may communicate with each other for better results on company forum board. 
  • Direct Deposit via Paypal available.
  • Generally, consistent work available for transcriptionists.
  • Finder's fee and bonuses for introductions to new business contacts.
